About ChronicLife.com

The Website
What is www.chroniclife.com? I should start by saying what we aren't. This is not a medical website and the owner is not a medical expert. While many sites tell you about specific diseases, their treatments, and so forth, this website is more about how it is to live each day with chronic illness--the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's an honest look at how we survive each day and how we find simple pleasures even with the pain and illness.

As I said I'm not a medical expert (nor do I play one on tv!) For years I've been diagnosed with various chronics. In my teens, it was IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). In my early 20s, it was hyperthyroidism. Then I added lactose intolerance to the mix. And, just as I was getting all that under control and feeling pretty good, I was hit with ankylosing spondylitis (a form of arthritis) in my early 30s. It has wreaked havoc on my feet and moved into my hands, neck, shoulders, and knees.

Well, there's more to me than my health history though somedays it doesn't seem like it! Some stuff about me besides my medical dossier...I don't have any kids. I have an 8 year old Lab/Golden mix named Sierra who is my best bud. I'm an Aunt of 4 and enjoy every minute I spend with those kids.

Genealogy is my passion. I've been researching for 13 years. My roots are Portuguese, French, Irish, English, and Australian. I run the Portuguese Hawaiian website, www.islandroutes.com. I'm on the webteam at www.genealogyforum.org. I am a genealogy chat host at www.genealogyforum.org and www.lusaweb.com.

My other interests are webdesign, baseball, reading, letter writing, history, crafts, and more.

I hope you enjoy the website!
